"you're a rock n roll nightmare, and you clean up the mess afterwards"
Cyn's Notes:
- due to the power of KavaKava & RedBull, i actually wasn't nervous until 20 seconds before we started. good!
- a lot of people actually came early, so Clinton's was pretty full. good!
- i think i sang better than i ever have before live. it felt really fantastic.
- we were really clicking & rocking as one unit. mind meld. assimilation. or something less geeky.
- "Are there any Nerds here tonight?" Ms. Bella Fox came prancing onto the stage wearing a lab coat, saying, "I'm a Nerd!" then proceeded to do a striptease while we played "Nerdy". Three words - Mario Mushroom Pasties. Roy, tell the nice people about the spectacular view you had...
- Pat joined us onstage to holler with us for Big Dumb Rock Song, and our cheerleaders were fantastic! very rowdy.
- i didn't get a really strong inhale before the long note (Tonight iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!), but somehow managed to hold it for 27 seconds. New Record! Mandy, what did David say about that?
- i'm getting better at wearing heels onstage & still bouncing around without killing myself.
- many people said many nice things after our set, and i think i'm still blushing. which is good - i'm usually too pale anyway.
- danced ass off during Slave to the Squarewave. wait... *looks behind me* nope. still there. damn.
- so sad that Penny is moving to Australia but happy for her. and it's not my fault that her cute husband sat in my lap babbling something about going to win the lottery and shipping all of us down to live in Australia with them.
- vaguely recall some drunk telling me that i'm both Ozzy AND Sharon... something about being loud & messy but then cleaning it all up. don't remember. i might have done at least 7 shots of tequila at that point.
- 3 or 4 guys wanted to take photos with us. for future reference nice people, take photos BEFORE we play, when we're less sweaty, gross, melted. we smell nicer.
Roy's Notes:
Pat and I came to the conclusion that Cyn is both Ozzy and Sharon. Cyn - you're a rock n roll nightmare, and you clean up the mess afterwards. The view from stage was awesome during the striptease. Miss. Fox would turn towards me, so the crowd wouldn't see certain things, but I did. Fantastic view. Great night. Loved it.
Extra Cyn Note:
I have the same birthday as Sharon Osbourne. Much more importantly, it's the same day as David Lee Roth. Yeeeah!
Mandy's Notes:
Man, I had the weirdest but bestest day. A job interview and then a gig. The good part was that, after using up all my nervous at the job interview, I had almost nothing left for the gig and consequently had the most fun playing ever. Totally got my bounce on, and it was awesome! I must remember that for future gigs, when I get all blah blah blah concerned about playing the correct note or some pretentious crap like that--bouncing is better!
People were cheering Cyn on during the Big Dumb Long Note, and since you asked Cyn, afterwards, David Marsden asked me if that was a tape of Cyn singing that note. I assured him that nope, it was all her, all live. No Ashlee Simpson/Britney Spears lip-syncing bollocks for us! Well, until we add the entourage of hot back up dancers for us to prance along with. We're working on that...
Speaking of hot back up dancers, part 1, hello to the feisty Ms. Fox! I totally have to watch the video, 'cause I couldn't watch Bella live. I tried, but I was loosing it, and could not play straight! Man, she is awesome funny, talented and smoking hot! My band has the best friends...
Speaking of hot back up dancers, part 2, hello Pat McPomPoms! Yeah, we need more crazed pompom singalong action on stage more often. Again, I couldn't watch the antics 'cause they were making me giggle, and the tickling me with the pompoms was making me giggle too.
The paparazzi were crazy! What was that about? Even my mom doesn't take that many pictures of me. So weird...
So OK, yeah, I know we nearly always say "it was our best gig ever!" and that's 'cause we're getting better every gig, but yep, this one was definitely the best gig ever; so many friends; so many prancing, peeling friends; so much fun playing; and then dancing like a manic on the floor to Slave to the SQUAREwave. It's Monday and my feet still feel like someone was throwing hammers at them from dancing all night long.
And also? I think we are now musically good enough, and entertaining enough, and like a real band enough that we can lose the "we're terrible and crappy" shtick. People aren't buying it anymore; they think we're good and fun, despite our best efforts to screw everything sideways. But I do think we should keep up with the "remember, the more you drink, the better we sound" 'cause that's true for any band.
